Sun Pass State Forest

The KOSS camp is physically located on the Sun Pass State Forest through a Special Use Permit from the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF).  The Sun Pass State Forest is managed for multiple uses including sustainable timber harvest. The ODF also has made significant contributions to the development and operation of  KOSS and has recently installed interpretive signage on a loop trail near the camp.  The active management surrounding KOSS provides a unique opportunity for students and their families to learn about these sustainable forestry objectives and study their outcomes.  The Sun Pass State Forest is part of the Upper Klamath Basin, a large watershed area that drains into Upper Klamath Lake.
