What is a KOSS Field Trip?

A field trip involves a group of 15 or more students attending a field trip with KOSS instructors.  Most of our field trips are centered near or around our camp location in the Sun Pass State Forest.  Your field trip to the Upper Klamath Basin will include approximately 2.5-3.5 hours of educational time and a 1/2 hour break for lunch, depending on when your bus must depart.  KOSS provides two instructors, and typically the class splits in half and takes turns doing specific activities.

Don't have the Funding Necessary for Forestry Education Involving Bus Transportation for Your Class?

We encourage teachers in Klamath Falls not to give up on field trips and outdoor schools involving forestry education. The District was not able to provide field trip funding for teachers during the 2008-2009 school year. Teachers are not necessarily prevented from going on fieldtrips, but they will have to find other ways of funding the trips.

Our partner, the Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI), may be able to provide transportation funds, on a case-by-case basis, to those classrooms whose opportunities to participate in such forestry-related studies are otherwise limited.  The bus transportation fund will be administered on a first-come, first-serve basis. They give priority to requests involving their partners, including KOSS. As a teacher or school administrator, you should submit the request before you schedule fieldtrips or camps involving KOSS. OFRI usually responds to your request in less than two weeks.
